Some stories start in the most average ways, and this was no exception. Throw in Neville with a sword AND a shield Jaune, a weird girl that's off in her own world, an uncle that's totally not a cross of Remus and Sirius and the authors randomly making characters LGBT, and you have the basic picture of the show. After the school gets attacked by the villain's white-masked minions, and the headmaster dies, the girl sets out to collect a set of items that would make the villain mortal, with cryptic notes that the headmaster has left her the headmaster's memories etched in some dude's brain. She goes to school with her dim, but funny best friend half-sister, a bookish, somewhat-SJW muggleborn catgirl and Draco Malfoy on a redemption arc Weiss Schnee, who is totally not fem!Draco. The mysterious, eccentric headmaster who happens to hold government positions and leads the war against said villain takes a special interest in her. Change the names and you could probably pass it off as an indie!Harry fic.Ī boy girl destined to defeat the freakish looking villain who killed her parents mother goes to a special school. Not a very common one as the types of people that are fans of the shows generally don't intersect, but RWBY is fairly fitting because the show is extremely inspired by Harry Potter.
